Active interpreting is different than simultaneous interpreting used during conferences and which requires a special equipment (microphones, headsets, etc).
As implied, active interpreting requires active participation between the interpreter and his clients. More common in smaller meetings and discussions, the interpreter waits until the speaker has finished before giving an accurate account of what has been said.
Active interpreting is flexible. The main purpose is to keep an informal and spontaneous style particularly suited to commercial and business relationships.
